Terms & Conditions
These terms explain the rules that apply when you use the Courses Direct website, make an enquiry, create an account, purchase a course or use our learning services.
1. About us
These Terms and Conditions apply to the website, course-enquiry, checkout, enrolment, account and learner-support services operated by Courses Direct Limited.
0121 517 1969
2. Agreement to these terms
By using our website, creating an account, placing an order or enrolling on a course, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them before placing an order.
Additional course-specific terms, provider rules, assessment requirements or payment-provider terms may also apply. Where a course-specific term conflicts with these general terms, the course-specific term will apply only to the extent of that conflict.
3. Eligibility and accounts
- You must provide accurate, current and complete information when making an enquiry, creating an account or enrolling.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for activity carried out through your account.
- You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
- If you are under 18, a parent, guardian, employer or other authorised adult may need to approve or complete the enrolment and payment.
- You may not create an account using another person’s identity or provide information that is false or misleading.
4. Course information and availability
We take reasonable care to describe courses, qualifications, study hours, modules, support, assessment methods and entry requirements accurately. Images and examples are illustrative unless stated otherwise.
Course content, tutor arrangements, awarding or certification arrangements and platform features may be updated where reasonably necessary to maintain quality, accuracy, security, regulatory compliance or availability. Any material change affecting an existing learner will be communicated where appropriate.
Completion of a course does not guarantee employment, promotion, earnings, professional registration, visa status or admission to another programme. You are responsible for checking whether a course meets the requirements of an employer, professional body, university, regulator or other organisation relevant to your goals.
5. Prices and payment
- Prices are shown in pounds sterling unless stated otherwise.
- The total price and any applicable taxes or charges will be shown before you place an order.
- Payment must be made using an available payment method. A payment provider may apply separate terms and security checks.
- Where instalments or finance are offered, the applicable schedule, eligibility requirements, charges and provider terms will be shown before agreement.
- We may correct an obvious pricing error. If an order has been placed at an incorrect price, we will contact you and give you the option to proceed at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
6. When a contract is formed
Submitting an order is an offer to purchase the selected course. A binding contract is formed when we send an order or enrolment confirmation, or when course access is activated, whichever occurs first.
We may refuse or cancel an order before acceptance where payment is not authorised, information is incomplete, the course is unavailable, eligibility requirements are not met, fraud or misuse is suspected, or an obvious error has occurred. Any payment taken for an order we do not accept will be refunded.
7. Course access and study period
Course access details will normally be sent to the email address supplied during enrolment. Access periods vary by course and will be stated on the course page, order confirmation or learner platform.
- Access is personal to the enrolled learner and must not be shared, transferred or resold.
- You are responsible for suitable internet access, a compatible device and any software reasonably required to use the course.
- Temporary maintenance, security work or third-party outages may affect availability. We will take reasonable steps to restore access.
- Any extension, deferral or transfer is subject to the course-specific rules and may involve an administration charge disclosed before it is applied.
8. Learner responsibilities
You agree to use the website, course materials, tutor support and learning platform lawfully and respectfully.
- Submit your own work and comply with academic-integrity rules.
- Do not copy, distribute, record, publish or commercially exploit course content without written permission.
- Do not upload malicious code, attempt unauthorised access or interfere with the website or platform.
- Do not harass tutors, staff, other learners or service providers.
- Meet any published assessment, identification, practical-work or evidence requirements.
9. Assessment, results and certificates
Assessment methods and completion requirements vary by course. A certificate, statement of attainment or other award is issued only when the applicable requirements have been met and any outstanding fees have been paid.
Assessment decisions may be subject to provider moderation, verification, resubmission rules or an appeal process. Replacement certificates, additional attempts or late submissions may incur a reasonable charge where disclosed in advance.
10. Cancellation, refunds and statutory rights
Your statutory cancellation period
For many online consumer contracts for services or digital content, you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days after the contract is made. The exact right depends on the nature of the course and when supply begins.
If you ask us to provide course access or begin services during the cancellation period, we may ask for your express request and acknowledgement. If you later cancel, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for services supplied before cancellation. For digital content, your cancellation right may be lost once supply begins where you gave the legally required express consent and acknowledgement.
How to cancel
To cancel, send a clear statement by email or post using the contact details below. Include your name, email address, order number, course and the date of purchase. You may use the model form below, but you do not have to.
Refunds
Where a refund is due, it will be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed. We may make any deduction or proportionate charge permitted by law for services supplied at your request before cancellation.
Refund rights for faults, misdescription or failure to provide the contracted service are not limited by this section.

11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access where you materially breach these terms, fail to pay an amount due, misuse the platform, infringe intellectual property, engage in academic misconduct, threaten others or create a security risk.
Where reasonable, we will explain the issue and give you an opportunity to remedy it. Immediate suspension may be used where necessary to protect learners, staff, systems, evidence or legal rights.
12. Intellectual property
All website and course content, including text, graphics, videos, assessments, downloads, branding and software, is owned by or licensed to Courses Direct, the course provider or another rights holder.
You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use course materials for your own study during the permitted access period. No ownership rights are transferred to you.
13. Third-party platforms and links
Some courses, payments, videos, certificates or support services may be delivered through third-party platforms. Their own terms and privacy information may apply. We are not responsible for an independent third party’s website, but this does not affect our obligations for services we have agreed to provide to you.
14. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.
Subject to the paragraph above, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made, losses caused by your breach, or business losses where you purchased as a consumer for personal use.
We are not liable for failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, but we will take reasonable steps to reduce the effect and resume performance.
15. Complaints and dispute resolution
Please contact us first if you have a complaint. Include your order number, course, relevant dates, a clear description of the issue and the outcome you are seeking. We will investigate and respond as soon as reasonably possible.
These terms do not prevent you from using any court, regulator, consumer-advice service or alternative dispute process available to you by law.
16. Privacy and cookies
Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal information. Our Cookies Policy explains how cookies and similar technologies are used.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms for legal, regulatory, security, technical or business reasons. The version applying to your purchase is normally the version accepted when the contract was formed, unless a change is required by law or you agree to it.
18. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live and retain any mandatory protections that apply there.
